Cologne / Bonn airport: Federal police arrest two criminals

Cologne –

The Federal Police did not go looking for Easter eggs on the Easter weekend, but instead were able to “find” two men who were wanted to be searched at Cologne / Bonn Airport. One of the travelers (46) who went into the network on Easter Sunday night (April 4) went straight to police custody.

The 46-year-old was checked shortly after midnight on Sunday when he had just stepped off a plane from Istanbul.

The federal police noticed that there was a wanted alert for arrest and extradition to the Netherlands against the man. The reasons were forgery and fraud. The airport officials handed the 46-year-old over to the custody service of the Cologne police.

On the night of Tuesday (April 6), the federal police achieved the second successful search. At around 1.30 a.m., the emergency services checked a 47-year-old who wanted to fly to Istanbul as part of the exit control.

Wanted offender may continue to travel to Cologne airport

However, the Federal Police initially thwarted his travel ambitions. Because the Bochum public prosecutor was looking for the 47-year-old with two arrest warrants – for tax evasion in more than 13 cases!

But because the man still paid the outstanding fines in the amount of 6,000 euros and 3,350 euros as well as a further remaining fine of five euros on site, he escaped the impending custodial sentence.

He was allowed to continue his journey. But he couldn’t make his flight to Istanbul, the plane had already taken off. (cab)
