Cologne: Birken-Apotheke comes on television with video

The video of a Cologne city center pharmacy is currently clicked on ten thousand times by users on social media and often shared. The Birken-Apotheke uploaded the self-created spot to YouTube on December 19, and a few days later the video could also be seen on Facebook and Instagram.

The film, accompanied by soulful piano music, accompanies a woman over the decades – and above all shows scenes in which the pharmacy stands by her side.

Be it in 1960 as a young girl when she received a piece of candy, in 1975 as a young woman on the emergency service flap or in 1995 when redeeming a prescription for which she naturally received a glucose. In 2020 the protagonist is an older lady, it’s Corona times and she opens her Christmas mail.

What falls out: a grape sugar, the pharmacy classic. She thinks it’s time to say thank you and now makes the pharmacist happy with a present. “Because it has never been more important to just be there. Your local pharmacy ”- the ad ends with this statement.

The Cologne pharmacy has clearly hit the right note with the video. It is particularly popular with colleagues in other pharmacies, as it emphasizes the importance of the profession that has come under pressure in recent years. It’s not just about medical care, it’s a huge human being, so the message.

But “normal” users also like it, as shown by almost 28,000 views on its own YouTube channel and almost 35,000 on the “Apotheke adhoc” channel.

Owner Erik Tenberken told the specialist portal “Apotheke adhoc” that he still couldn’t quite understand the response. “Many colleagues say that this is the best they have seen so far,” says Tenberken happily and emphasizes how important cohesion is to him in his industry.

The idea came about because they wanted to counter a commercial for the online pharmacy DocMorris. It took a total of ten days to realize the spot, says producer Sascha Swiercz. Friends and family were used for the actors.

The video can even be seen on TV on New Year’s Eve at 8:10 p.m. on RTL, as announced by Wort & Bild-Verlag, which is now promoting the spot with its reach. The “Apotheken-Umschau” is also published by this publisher.

The Birken-Apotheke has been active on social media for a long time, for example with an advent calendar, and is also involved with the Cologne Aids Aid.
