In the edition of this Thursday, August 29, we told you that the High Complexity Task Force of the PDI O’Higgins, arrested an official of the municipality of Nancagua, Aníbal Valenzuela, accused of the irregular issuance of driver’s licenses and bribery, a case in which players of the professional soccer team Colo Colo are involved.
The arrest took place after detectives gathered enough information for the prosecutor in charge of the investigation to request the corresponding arrest warrant from the Santa Cruz Guarantee Court, which was carried out by the Investigative Police, whose task force located the accused at his home in the commune of Nancagua.
After being arrested, the Prosecutor’s Office instructed that the official – who held a position of influence in the Department of Traffic of the municipality of Nancagua – be placed at the disposal of the Guarantee Court of Santa Cruz, for the respective formalization of charges.
During the hearing, the Public Prosecutor’s Office presented part of the background information, which was accepted by the competent court, which ordered preventive detention for the accused for a period of 120 days, while the necessary steps are taken to complete the investigation.
In this context, the Chief Prosecutor for High Complexity of O’Higgins, Javier Von Bischoffshausen, pointed out that the accused, an official of the Traffic Department of the Municipality of Nancagua, repeatedly and in numerous cases gave Colo-Colo players driving licenses without complying with the paperwork, including practice on the street to assess how they drove, null theoretical or medical tests, and even in other cases, not going to the commune and leaving the licenses at the workplace.
He even claimed that the fingerprint of the accused is stamped on the card or folder for obtaining a driver’s license, so the prosecutor understands that the crime is not only proven with witnesses, but also with expert reports it was possible to establish the participation of the accused for the formalization of charges.
This is a public office crime, since taking advantage of the position he held, the accused granted these driving licenses without complying with the legal requirements, which according to the prosecutor would be a serious crime, affecting public trust, the way of acting of the proper administration of justice. There is also the crime of bribery, since one of the driving licenses was obtained after a payment made to the accused.
The prosecutor added that in the coming days a formal investigation hearing will be requested against some Colo Colo players and Aníbal Mosa. The crime is related to obtaining a driver’s license knowing that they did not comply with the legal requirements.
