More than 200 people were injured in a subway crash in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. Two trains collided in a tunnel. One was empty and the other was carrying more than 230 people, according to world news agencies.
Of the 213 injured, 47 were hospitalized with serious injuries and 166 with minor injuries.
Photos on social media after the collision on Monday night showed bloodied passengers.
This is the first major disaster for the country’s 23-year-old subway system.
Prime Minister Muhiydin Yassin has promised a full investigation into the case. Police said there was a suspicion of improper communication from the train control center. The two trains were moving at different speeds.
