A 12-year-old boy was seriously injured on Saturday afternoon when the kayak he was in was struck by a seaplane on a body of water in the Grand-Remous sector, about fifty kilometers north of Maniwaki, in Outaouais.
The Sûreté du Québec received a call shortly after 4 p.m. regarding this accident in the Baskatong reservoir.
The boy sustained a head injury and was taken to a hospital.
Another person who was with him in the kayak was not injured, according to the SQ.
“According to preliminary information, the seaplane had certain difficulties and, during a maneuver, while landing, it struck the kayak on the water”, explained Sergeant Jean-Raphaël Drolet.
