College students at the Institut Notre-Dame in Chartres obtain Cambridge certification

Last spring, around fifty 5th and 3rd year the Notre-Dame Institute (IND) have passed an exam to obtain the Cambridge certification. This diploma assesses the abilities of college students in the language of Shakespeare. They were assessed in May 2021 for half a day on their oral, written, listening and reading comprehension.

160 students from Chartres took the Cambridge English exam: “One of the most respected in the world

The 5th year passed the Key English Test to acquire level A2 to B1 (beginner to intermediate level). Their 3rd year counterparts took the Cambridge English Preliminary which allows them to validate a level B1 to B2 (level to be reached at the end of high school).

All the students registered for the tests passed it to varying degrees depending on their mark.
The participating students are all from international classes. Children are selected by their level in English and their motivation. They benefit from one hour of English more each week than their classmates. Later in their schooling, they will have history or science lessons in that language.

The students of the Institut Notre-Dame de Chartres imagine the college of the future

“The Cambridge certification is not like the TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) or the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) which must be revalidated every two years, it is final and very complete, it is an undeniable plus on a CV ”, summarizes Florence Noureux, teacher in charge of preparations for the Cambridge exams.
