College Football Prediction: Take on Oklahoma as an underdog in the game of rivalry

Waking up on the second Saturday in October meant the quadrilateral football that influenced the national championship at the Cotton Bowl.

It was Ricky Williams and Adrian Peterson who argued over who was the best Roy Williams, taking the pass for Texas, or the “Superman” breaking the stack playing in Oklahoma.

But Saturday’s Red River Showdown isn’t even the biggest game of the Big 12. That difference is between Texas Christian and Kansas.

Oklahoma and Texas both reappeared in the ranks for the first time since 1998, when the game of rivalry was still known as the Red River Shootout and Mack Brown was in his first season as a Longhorns coach.

Texas is coming in as a 9-point cast, the Longhorns have been favorites in this bout for the first time since 2009 and are hoping quarterback Quinn Ivers will recover from a shoulder injury he sustained on September 10th.

Oklahoma could do without quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who fell after a defeat in TCU last week and was on the concussion list earlier in the week. While he can’t play, if you spend a week preparing and repairing your battered defense to find cover, expect to play better from QB position soon.

Here are four more songs for this weekend:

Utah-3½ and UCLA: The Utes recently owned the series and racked up five straight wins, each scoring at least 41 points. Play should be decided on the scrimmage line where Utah have an advantage over the Bruins.

Purdue-Maryland U59: The Terrapins scored no more than 27 points in the Big Ten game and faced the Purdue defense that closed Minnesota last week. The Boilermakers are expected to bring back defensive leader Jalen Graham.

On TCU-7 Kansas: Sonny Dykes is a rudimentary coach. He won a game of bowls in Cal, which nobody but Jeff Tedford does. He won at the Southern Methodist. And he took the Horned Frogs to an unbeaten start.

State of Boise-7½ in the state of Fresno: The Broncos seem to have solved their quarterback problem with the introduction of red jersey freshman Tylen Greene. Jake Hainer was eliminated for the Bulldogs, who fought without the QB last week.

Last week: 2-3

Season: 10-15
