Coldspring High School Launches Innovative Industrial Craft Training Program

COLDSPRING, Texas — A groundbreaking partnership between Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) and Coldspring-Oakhurst Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) is bringing much-needed industrial craft training to the Coldspring community. The collaboration, formalized by an interlocal agreement signed in early January 2025, delivers specialized training directly to Coldspring High School students.

This innovative program directly addresses the growing demand for skilled workers in high-demand industries. By offering training on-site,the partnership eliminates geographical barriers,making valuable skills accessible to local residents. The first program under this initiative marks a crucial step toward achieving this goal.

Beginning march 7,students can enroll in an NCCER CORE and NCCER Pipefitting Level 1 course. This 160-hour program, held on Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. over 10 weeks (with one weekend off for Easter),provides hands-on training leading to two nationally recognized NCCER certifications.Classes will be held in the state-of-the-art Construction Trade Shop, Room 508, at Coldspring Oakhurst High School.

The tuition for this complete course is $2,500, but tuition assistance is available for qualifying students. This financial aid option broadens access to the program, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder students’ pursuit of valuable skills.
