Velsen – The national door-to-door collection of the National MS Fund will take place from 16 to 21 November. The organization is urgently looking for collectors. Due to the corona virus, the collection is different from previous years. Collectors can put a donation flyer with a QR code through letterboxes in their area. It is also possible to collect online with a digital collection box.
Every collector has his or her own reason to commit to the fight against MS. This also applies to Lia, who has been collecting for the National MS Fund for ten years now. Her husband was diagnosed with MS in 2002, after several years of vague complaints. The impact on the family was great. “He was 52 and a strong and enterprising man. After diagnosis, his world collapsed. He couldn’t accept that he was sick. Due to concentration problems and fatigue, he soon had to give up his work as an insurance adviser. He felt written off. That period has put a strain on the family. And still. My husband is very tired and can only walk about two or three meters. It also deteriorates cognitively. Finding a way in that is a process. As a partner you can feel powerless. By collecting, I had the feeling that I could contribute something. ”
Financing research
The proceeds from the collection are extremely important to the National MS Fund. The proceeds from the collection fund research into better treatments and a better quality of life for people with MS. This research must not come to a standstill, as MS is not standing still either.
