Collective Labor Agreement Result: 9% Wage Increase for Professions Such as Plasterer and Floor Layer

Employers and unions in the phase-out process have achieved a collective labor agreement result. Wages for everyone will increase by 150 euros in both March and September. On average, this amounts to a wage increase of 9 percent.

About nine thousand people are covered by the collective labor agreement. They perform professions such as plasterer and floor layer. The collective labor agreement must apply for 2024 and 2025. Because it concerns a fixed amount, employees with the lowest incomes will benefit the most.

It has also been agreed that wages will rise in line with inflation in 2025. “That offers some certainty when it comes to appropriate compensation for the loss of purchasing power that could occur,” says Anthony Williams, director of the CNV trade union.

In addition, agreements have been made about a so-called ‘retention bonus’ that should make it attractive for permanent employees to remain employed in the tight labor market. “This is paid out if you have been employed for five or ten years. We want to encourage young people in particular to stay in the sector,” says Williams. Furthermore, agreements have been made about a minimum internship allowance of 20 euros per day.

Union members have until mid-January to vote on the offer. If the majority agrees, the collective labor agreement is final.
