Collective Dispute in Social Insurance Institution: Demands for Salary Increase and Improved Working Conditions

Beata Wójcik, president of the Trade Union of ZUS Employees, said in an interview with “Rzeczpospolita” that the rulers willingly add new duties to them, but unfortunately this does not go hand in hand with an increase in salaries.

The employees want a raise from July this year in the amount of 1.2 thousand. PLN gross per full-time job. In addition, they demand the improvement of working conditions, including the adjustment of the level of employment to the number of tasks. They also want an internship allowance to be introduced from July.

Collective dispute in the Social Insurance Institution

Paweł Żebrowski, a spokesman for ZUS, said that the formation of a collective dispute is not something new, and in recent years there have been “at least a few” and most of them have been completed.

A representative of the institution reassures that, as now, pensions, disability pensions and other benefits, such as 500+, will be paid on time. He adds that an element of a collective dispute in this case cannot be the demand for wage increases. Why?

– The employer cannot conduct a collective dispute to this extent, because it would lead to incurring an obligation that is impossible to fulfill and, consequently, invalid and violating public finance discipline. We understand the current situation in the country, but Within the last year, employees of the Plant received two increases in basic salaries. The increase in the average monthly basic salary in ZUS in the period between April 30, 2022 and April 30, 2023 is on average PLN 1,335 per full-time job, which is a jump of 27.6% on average. – adds Żebrowski in an interview with Rzeczpospolita.
