This Sunday morning there was an accident at the Caussade swimming pool. An incorrect dosage of chlorine caused the poisoning of about ten people.

At around 11:30 am this Sunday morning, firefighters received a call to intervene at the Caussade pool, Quercy’O. A dozen people, present on the scene, have in fact suffered an overdose of chlorine in the tanks of the aquatic establishment.

Fourteen rescuers from the barracks of Caussade, Montauban, Caylus and Albias came to help the victims, visitors and employees of the pool. Three of them had already left when they arrived and the remaining people were assisted by the emergency services. Only one woman, a 68-year-old woman, required more attention, but after the fire department and SAMU examination, she was able to return home.

An excessively high dosage of chlorine can in fact cause toxic fumes which can in particular cause, in the most serious situations, alterations or irritation of the respiratory mucous membranes.

The swimming pool is closed to the public indefinitely; the time when the pH of the water returns to a normal level and is safe for users and staff.
