Collections are impacted by the health crisis but volunteers are continuing their actions

“Blood donations remain essential”

Blood needs are still high and some donors have not shown up for blood donor appointments since the start of the health crisis.

“This is why it is essential to remain mobilized even in a period of confinement and a health crisis”, specifies Marie-Thérèse Gaydier, president of the association of blood donors of Mauriac and its region.

For her, there is no doubt that the health crisis has had an impact on donation, in the Mauricie region and more widely in France. Initially planned for Mauriac, this collection finally took place in the Grange au Vigean, the André-Thivet room still being renovated.

They were seventy-three Mauriacois and, more broadly the inhabitants of the community of communes, at the rendezvous. On the positive side of the day, some new donors have registered, which reassures the volunteers of the association.

As always during this operation, the team did everything to preserve the safety of the people who came to show generosity, respecting as always the strict hygiene measures but also all the additional precautions required during this period.
