In Lille, a new evacuation of a building took place, after the discovery of a crack. The occupants had to leave the premises immediately.

A building in the center of Lille (Nord) was completely emptied of its inhabitants. A long crack vertical winds the facade. Two days ago, a passerby noticed him and alerted the authorities. The occupants had to leave the premises while awaiting the passage of experts. The last evacuation in a long series, since the collapse four months ago of two buildings in rue Pierre Mauroy, which left one dead.

Many buildings threatened and evacuated

The tragedy has aroused the concern of Lille residents. The city has since received nearly 250 requests for intervention to check the stability of buildings. In the most serious cases, about ten, the evacuation was ordered. Several apartments and a restaurant were thus emptied at the end of November, after the discovery of cracks. In the neighboring street, three buildings were evacuated due to major disorders. Some residents still cannot access their homes or businesses.
