The cause of the collapse of Metro Line 6 in Monterrey

As reported by the Government of Nuevo León, this Tuesday afternoon, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the failure of two of the four cables of support 181, located at the intersection of Madero and Colón avenues, in front of the station of the “Y Griega” subway, caused the steel element to give way and tilt towards part of the road that is open to circulation.

The collapse of one of the rod structures generated an enormous roar in the area. The authorities reported that the steel structural element bent at 85°, without touching the ground or damaging urban equipment or any vehicles that were circulating through the site at that time.

Finally, the procedure continued with the lifting of the structural element to secure it again with steel cables, so roads were restored in the sector. The security operation took several hours and generated vehicular chaos.
