In the relationship with the United States there will be no subordination, but collaboration on issues of common interest, said President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo this Friday, who assured that her government will continue to insist that Washington explain the financing it grants to opposition organizations.
In his morning press conference at the National Palace, he stated that in exchanges with the US government and in particular with the next government of Donald Trump “we will always defend our country, our sovereignty, our independence.”
“What do we propose with the United States? Of course collaboration, right? Since we have a common border, there are issues that obviously correspond to both of us, having collaboration, from security issues to issues of weapons entering Mexico into Mexico or the issue of fentanyl where we collaborate, which is also an ongoing crisis. USA. What we always propose is that there is no subordination, that there is collaboration, that there is coordination and high-level dialogue,” he said.
“Any president in Mexico who represents the country with dignity, recognizing our sovereignty, is what he or she has to ask for. A collaboration, a permanent coordination on all issues,” he stated.
Questioned about what will happen with the protests sent to the White House by the government of former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador over the financing that the United States grants to organizations such as Mexicans against Corruption and Impunity, linked to businessman Claudio X. González, Sheinbaum Pardo assured that this financing should not be given.
“We are going to continue insisting there, but it shouldn’t be,” he replied.
