Collaboration Agreement between Aquona and Cáritas Creates Social Fund to Help Families in Castilla y León

Aquona, a company that manages the integral water cycle in more than 60 municipalities in Castilla y León, and Cáritas have signed today a collaboration agreement with which a social fund is created to help families in situations of social exclusion in the Community Autonomous. Specifically, Aquona will contribute up to 4,000 euros over two years to cover the amount of water bills for the most vulnerable customers.

The director of Aquona, Jesús García del Valle, and Antonio Jesús Martín de Lera, president of Cáritas autonomous of Castilla y León, have been in charge of signing the agreement. This social fund will be applicable in various municipalities in the provinces of Palencia, Burgos, Valladolid, Segovia, Zamora and León, and households that meet requirements similar to those of the social bonus of the electricity companies will be eligible, in addition to other groups, such as victims of gender violence.

The agreement has a duration of two years and, in addition to the fund, includes actions in employment, environmental awareness and donation of food and clothing, for their recycling within the framework of the Modare project.

Jesús García del Valle has emphasized the company’s objective of “redouble efforts” for “guarantee water to all people in vulnerable situations to help those hardest hit by the economic crisis and expand aid to other groups.”.

The director of Aquona has expressed that, thanks to this agreement, the objective of protecting one hundred percent of the company’s vulnerable clients is met. The beneficiaries of this agreement are added to those of the social funds and rates that the company already has in place in the municipalities where it operates and to which it allocates 240,000 euros annually, as well as those of the social fund that it maintains with the Red Cross in Castilla and Lion.

For his part, Antonio Jesús Martín de Lera, president of Cáritas autonomous of Castilla y León, thanked Aquona for its “involvement with Cáritas in its corporate social responsibility work”. At the same time it has highlighted “the importance of building alliances in favor of citizens, especially the most vulnerable”.
