Get ready for a stellar performance! Coldplay is set to make their Billboard music Awards (BBMAs) debut at the 2024 ceremony. The band will be beaming in live from their sold-out “Music of the Spheres Tour” in Australia, treating fans to a taste of their latest album, Moon Music.
The 2024 BBMAs, hosted by the hilarious Michelle Buteau, will air on Thursday, December 12th, at 8 pm ET/PT on FOX and Fire TV Channels. You can also catch the show on-demand on Paramount+, with performances rolling out across Billboard.com and their social media channels (@BBMAs and @Billboard).
Coldplay joins a lineup of already announced performers, including global sensations SEVENTEEN, rising star Teddy Swims, and South African singer Tyla.
Adding to the excitement, several performances will be filmed remotely. SEVENTEEN will take over the streets of downtown Los Angeles, all the way to the Santa Monica Pier, for a performance of “LOVE, MONEY, FAME (feat.DJ Khaled).” Tyla will be bringing the Amapiano vibes from a pub in London, joined by Optimist Music ZA for a pop-up party featuring two of her hits, with choreography by the talented Tanisha Scott.
Teddy Swims will deliver an intimate performance of his first Billboard Hot 100 No.1 hit, “Lose Control,” and his new single “Bad Dreams” from his upcoming album I’ve Tried Everything but therapy (Part 2).
Coldplay is also a finalist for two Billboard Music Awards this year: top duo/group and top rock touring artist. Their latest album, Moon Music, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in October, marking their fifth No. 1 album and their first in over a decade. The album has already spawned two hits on the Billboard Hot 100: “Feels Like I’m Falling in Love” and “We Pray” (featuring Little Simz, Burna Boy, Elyanna & Tini). Coldplay has previously topped the Hot 100 with “Viva La Vida” in June 2008 and “My Universe,” a collaboration with BTS, in 2021.
Get ready for a night of music’s biggest stars! The 2024 Billboard Music Awards are set to return to FOX, marking a reunion with the network that hosted the show from its inception in 1990 through 2006. Music fans can also catch all the action on-demand through Paramount+ and with one-click access via the free Fire TV Channels app for Amazon device users.
This year’s ceremony promises an unforgettable party of musical achievement, featuring exclusive performances, artist interviews, and award presentations from around the globe, even during sold-out tours. Rising star Shaboozey will deliver a special performance live from the W Hollywood, part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio. More exciting performers and special guests will be revealed soon.
“The BBMAs honors the year’s biggest artists, albums, songs, producers and songwriters across multiple genres, as resolute by year-end performance metrics on the Billboard charts,” the announcement stated.
The eligibility period for this year’s awards aligns with Billboard‘s Year-End Charts tracking period, encompassing music consumption from the charts dated October 28, 2023, through October 19, 2024. Adding to the excitement, the show has already revealed its leading finalists: Zach Bryan, Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen, and Sabrina Carpenter are all in the running for top honors.
The Billboard Music Awards are produced by Dick Clark Productions, a subsidiary of Penske Media Corporation, which also owns Billboard. The event is proudly presented by Marriott Bonvoy, Marriott International’s travel program and portfolio of over 30 hotel brands. For more details, visit MarriottBonvoy.com.
