Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has announced that the British rock band will stop making new music after their latest album, due out in 2025, AFP reported.
“Our last real album will be released in 2025. After that, I think we’ll just go on tour,” said Martin, 44, in an excerpt from an interview with host Joe Wiley, which will be broadcast by the BBC.
“We may be recording a few collaborations, but the Coldplay catalog will be over at this point,” added Chris Martin.
Asked about the Coldplay frontman’s statements on another show, Wiley said Martin was “disarmingly honest” in the interview, but that she never knew if he was joking or completely serious.
When their ninth album, Music of The Spheres, was released in October, Chris Martin had already told New Musical Express that the band intended to make twelve albums, three more, before ceasing to make new music.
Following its release on October 15, “Music of The Spheres” shot directly to the top of the British album chart.
