Coldplay take first place for the second consecutive year with “Viva la vida”. In total, the song was number one three times, because in 2011 it also topped the list. It is also striking that Harry Styles is in the top five twice: once solo, with “As it was” and once with One Direction, with the song “What does you beautiful”.
Styles has been on the list no less than fifteen times. He is, together with Rihanna, the best known artist. The Styles and Rihanna charts show that MNM listeners heavily choose recent songs: just over half are songs from 2010 or newer.
The oldest newcomer to the list is Nicole & Hugo with 1971’s “Goeiemorgen, morgen,” a song that’s 51 years old. It is a tribute to the recently deceased Nicole Josy.
