Cold case from Frankfurt is back on the table: dead 15-year-olds

Over twenty years ago, the body of a girl was found in the Main near Frankfurt. The police suspected a violent crime, but the investigation came to nothing. This Hessian cold case is now back on the table.

The day is July 31, 2001. The body of a girl was discovered on the Main in Frankfurt’s Nied district in the afternoon, wrapped in bed linen and tied to an umbrella stand, which was presumably intended to keep the body under water. During the autopsy, the investigators discovered something terrible: the girl had apparently been severely abused. According to the police, this was indicated by several unhealed broken bones and numerous burn scars.

Girl is never clearly identified

The State Criminal Police Office says: Investigations have shown that the body was in the water for between twelve and 24 hours before it was found. The possible cause of death was blunt force. The young person probably came from Asia, as forensic investigations suggested, it was said in a message. However, the girl was never clearly identified.

Police are hoping for new clues

“Murder does not expire,” writes the LKA and is now reopening the case, which is over 20 years old. As part of a European search campaign, the police are hoping for new clues that could lead to the case being clarified. The case will also be shown on the television program “Aktenzeichen XY… Unsolved” at the beginning of December. Further information is available on the Police search portal.

The police describe the girl like this:

  • Nationality unknown, probably Asian (Pakistan, Afghanistan, North India)
  • about 15 to 16 years old, probably born between 1985 and 1986
  • 1.57 meters tall, weighs 38.5 kilos
  • Dark brown hair about 30 centimeters long
  • Both earlobes pierced, left ear deformed due to violence

Anyone who can provide information in this cold case is asked to contact the Hessian State Criminal Police Office on 0611/83-8484 or by email.
