Colchagua CD and Chimbarongo FC had a bad matchday 20 in the Third Division A. Both teams had hopes of achieving promotion to professionalism at the end of the season, but to stay in the game they needed to win. Unfortunately, both lost their respective duels and were far behind the leaders.
The first to take to the field was the team from the city of wicker, which visited Deportes Valdivia. At the Félix Gallardo stadium, Alan Álvarez’s pupils were defeated by 2-0, with goals from Gabriel Olearte (8′) and Franco Oyarzún (57′). In addition, forward Jorge Uribe wasted a penalty shot -which could have been the discount- and at the end defender Javier Salazar was sent off.
With this result, Chimbarongo is left with 33 points, 10 points behind Deportes Colina and Santiago City, who are fighting for the second promotion spot. On the next date, the Greens will host the Citizens.
FALL AGAINST IBERIA
In San Fernando, meanwhile, Colchagua CD suffered its fifth home defeat of the year. Playing at the Jorge Silva Valenzuela stadium, it was surprised by Iberia de Los Angeles, a team that defeated it 2-3.
Oscar Reyes made it 0-1 in the 7th minute, but Dario Roa equalised in the 30th minute. In fact, in the 37th minute, midfielder Alvaro Garrido converted a penalty to make it 2-1. And before half-time, the visitors equalised with Reyes’ second goal (45’+2′).
In the second half, in the 56th minute, Felipe Bustamante scored a great goal from medium distance that determined the final score of 2-3.
The team from La Herradura was left with 36 points and has little chance of fighting for promotion despite the six games left to play. Next weekend, again at home, they will play against the bottom club Unión Compañías de La Serena.
