Thomas Gottschalk voted for “Wetten, dass..?” decorated. But even the moderator’s red leopard suit can’t hide a weakness.
She called her autobiography “Autumn Blonde”. And who Thomas Gottschalk this Saturday evening on “Wetten, dass ..?” observed, remembered. A second spring does not appear to be granted to Gottschalk as show master. His demeanor seems as if his strength has run out – and we viewers can only afford to be sprinkled with Gottschalk’s lineage.
At least the look is right. She is striking in her red leopard suit, her blond quiff impeccably styled. For his second comeback as ZDF presenter of the big Saturday night show, he also lives up to the autumn motto on the outside: red and yellow, sufficiently colorful – only the stormy has been lost. His show “Wetten, dass..?” has a pulse at rest for nearly four hours. And this applies primarily to itself.
“Better to put powder in your hair than through your nose”
Gottschalk emphasizes at the beginning of the show that he doesn’t want to be the first German television presenter to fall asleep on his own show. He can be self-deprecating. However, the allusion to his age of 72 proves to be an unintentionally realistic warning in the course of the broadcast: you can’t shake the feeling that it could be that time at any minute. “Stay awake, Tommy,” you might say to the former TV bonfire enforcer.
It’s a good thing the coke kicks in soon. So not with Thomas Gottschalk, who continues to moderate like a sleepwalker through a format that he has accompanied for a total of 22 years of his life. In the meantime, we can safely talk about controlled moderation. Heart rate fluctuations at rest? nobody.
No, coke enters the show in other ways. It is Christoph Maria Herbst who takes him to the hall in Friedrichshafen – if only rhetorically. Because when Robbie Williams, who was invited as the biggest international star that day, reveals that he can make his hair look thicker with a powder, the actor and comedian jokes: “It’s better to put powder in your hair than through the nose”. A gag with a false bottom? Or just an obvious cocaine joke from a man who rose to fame with crude “Stromberg” sayings?
Gottschalk’s food of the gods and the gag that wasn’t one
In any case, Robbie Williams’ drug past is well documented. He himself never held his escapades behind the mountain, he admitted two years ago in an interview with t-online: “When I was in such a mood at that moment, the only difference between Christmas and other days was that I bought six grams of cocaine instead of two”. In the show “Wetten, dass ..?”, the pop star does not show himself much, she only smiles-and a short time later he is on a private jet that takes him south over Lake Constance to Geneva.
Which makes it clear: the 48-year-old missed the biggest highlight of the show. Because a few minutes later, the jelly is served. Veronica Ferres, daughter of her Lilly Krug and Hollywood star John Malkovich can eat the jelly in green and red because they lost the bet. Two boys failed to get their cell phones to a man during a long-spin roller coaster ride. So now three acting stars are seated at a long table and have to serve soup, uh, pudding.
Where is the highlight hidden? Thomas Gottschalk had previously threatened the trio with adulterated pudding. According to the moderator, one of the three delicacies is fish flavored. Because Ferres and Co. doesn’t like it very much, Tommy boldly lunges into the breach and gets his hand smacked by a bead of green goo. The delicacy immediately ends up in the moderator’s mouth, which is painted in autumn blond – an unappetizing sight. If Gottschalk rises in RTL career and ends up in the jungle camp one day: The crew around Sonja Zietlow has to overcome the problem with jelly food out of the way!
