Angelos Andreopoulos’s theatrical monologue, about the life of the great artist Giannoulis Halepas, returns to the KYKLOS theater for a unique performance on Tuesday, November 7 at 9:00 p.m.
The show, masterfully directed by Alexandros Liakopoulos, after touring, in the 2022-2023 season, to many cities in Greece, such as Tinos (where it premiered), Patras, Ioannina, Thessaloniki, Nafplio, Ermioni, returns to the theater KYKLOS, having already received rave reviews from the spectators, many of whom attended the show more than once, as well as from the critics, both in Athens and in the other cities of Greece.
The work refers to the life of the most important artist Giannoulis Halepas, having as a springboard the psychiatric hospital of Corfu, where he was hospitalized for 14 years and which is the starting point of the journeys of his mind. Among these we find ourselves in his childhood in Tinos, in Athens in the 18th century, where he studied and later worked extensively, giving us important works, such as the well-known Sleeping Beauty, the Satyr, Medea… but also in Munich, where he spent a large part of his life and managed to establish himself significantly, winning awards and distinctions… to return to Tinos, an important station in his life… before the psychiatric hospital… after the psychiatric hospital and to be led through all these paths to redemption and soul upliftment, which only a great man and artist can feel and experience to the extreme.
In an abstract setting, Giorgis Kontopodis invites us to immerse ourselves in the psyche of the important sculptor, within the eighty minutes that the performance lasts and conveys to us all the searches, thoughts and feelings of this man, whose life many times resembles novel and is an example of the phrase “it’s never too late”…
The performance is a tribute to the most important Greek sculptor as well as man, who suffered so much because of his ΄΄beliefs΄΄ but managed to remain steadfast in them until the end of his life.
