The Committee of Coffee Growers of Antioquia alerted about the risk in which is the harvest in the department for lack of fertilizers dammed in Buenaventura.
The Committee of Coffee Growers of Antioquia warned that only about 50% of the agricultural inputs and fertilizers required by coffee-growing families for their plantations is entering the department, due to the damming of cargo vehicles in the south of the country.
Despite the fact that to date a large part of the blockades in that area have been lifted, imported products have not yet been able to arrive from the Port of Buenaventura and time is running out to start fertilizing coffee crops.
The fertilization of coffee trees should be done in the rainy season because this helps in the distribution. If the dry season enters, the opportune moment will pass. This could put at risk the harvest that generates more than 30,000 jobs and 1.4 billion pesos for the department and the country.
