Cofepris Authorizes New Health Supplies: Influenza Vaccine, Medicines, and Medical Devices

The Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) authorized the use of a high-dose, quadrivalent influenza vaccine, subtypes A and B, for people over 65 years of age.

According to the last fortnightly Report on therapeutic expansion, it was detailed that among the new molecules that obtained sanitary registration, there is also an antiplatelet agent.

In total, the Commission authorized 166 new health supplies, and of these, 14 correspond to medicines. It also authorized seven clinical trials: two are for the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus and one for chronic kidney transplant rejection.

Regarding the new supply of medical devices, a total of 145 were authorized, of which 54 are dedicated to medical care; for example, intravascular ultrasound catheter, intervertebral fixation device and intracranial self-expanding stent, among others.

To these health supplies are added 52 teams dedicated to the diagnosis of lipids, liver function, hormones, rheumatology and infectology, and 39 medical teams; among them: oxygen concentrator, fetal doppler, surgical instruments, X-ray system and ultrasound system.

The generation and publication of the fortnightly Report on therapeutic expansion is an exercise in transparency by this authority towards the regulated industries and patients, the central objective of an agile, fair and transparent health regulation.
