Cofepris alerts for the illegal sale of false vaccines against COVID-19 by Cansino, Sinopharm and Sinovac on social networks and pharmacies

A social media scam related to the sale of vaccines against COVID-19 with the brands CanSino, Snopharm and Sinovac put the Federal Commission for the Protection Against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) on alert, which issued an alert.

Any product offered as a vaccine against Covid-19 that is for sale through internet pages, social networks, by telephone, pharmacies, hospitals and points of sale, constitutes a health risk because it is of doubtful origin.

Cofepris stressed that in Mexico the application of the vaccine against COVID-19 is free and is only applied in accordance with the “National Vaccination Policy against the SARSCoV-2 virus”, established by the Ministry of Health.

He also asked the population to report the establishments, hospitals or pharmacies that sell vaccines through this page.

In Mexico, the vaccines that have been approved by Cofepris for application are those of Pfizer BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, CanSino Biologics y Sinovac. At this time, only health personnel and seniors have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
