Coens wants to enter into a dialogue with voters on the CD&V platform

CD&V chairman Joachim Coens wants to enter into direct dialogue with the voter via a digital participation platform soon. Non-members are also involved in the choices that CD&V makes.

The platform was presented on Saturday at the first digital Day of the Department for local CD&V chapters. For the 300 local CD&V teams it is an annual inspiration, training and exchange day not to be missed, but due to the corona measures, a physical meeting was not possible.

‘Nevertheless, the enthusiasm of our local representatives was very high. During the day, 700 participants will exchange their experiences and inspire each other, ‘says Coens.

Coalition preference

During the presidential elections, Joachim Coens had already indicated that he would involve the members more. This was expressed in member surveys. At the beginning of March, a survey was sent out about the substantive priorities in the coalition agreement and an inquiry was made into possible coalitions.

Another survey at the end of March asked about personal experiences with the corona crisis. At the beginning of June, the members were asked about the lessons they learned from the crisis and about the substantive priorities that they believe the coalition agreement should contain.

Non-members

To better involve citizens in policy, the digital participation platform was presented on Saturday, with which members, but also non-members, will soon be involved in the policy choices that CD&V makes.

‘Depending on current events, we use the digital platform to collect votes, to discuss, to launch surveys, briefly poll the opinions of members and non-members on positions and we enter into a debate on social themes’, concludes CD&V chairman Joachim Coens.
