Coen and Sander thank listeners in the last show: ‘You grew with them’

After sixteen years, radio DJs Coen Swijnenberg and Sander Lantinga have the last broadcast of their Coen and Sander Show presented on Radio 538. Last month it was announced that the radio station is removing their show from its daily programming. The channel will reduce the frequency of the program after the summer from four days to one day a week.

The radio presenters emphasized in their provisional last broadcast that the decision of 538 was not their own choice, but that they look positively at the future. “And we continue”, Lantinga said, referring to the late summer, when the Coen and Sander Show returns on Friday afternoon. “This is just a break. And it might be different and it might take some getting used to, but it will also be back to normal.”

Heartwarming messages

The duo could be heard every working day for sixteen years in their own program, first on NPO 3FM and then on Radio 538. “I want to thank all listeners from the bottom of my heart”, Lantinga said. “They have grown with us for sixteen years.”

The presenter said that he and Swijnenberg have received many heartwarming messages from listeners in recent weeks. “Then you realize what radio is about and why radio is the most beautiful medium in the world. It works one-on-one, from maker to consumer. I think it’s great that we were able to determine a part of your life together.”

The band Di-rect from The Hague closed the last daily broadcast with the song ‘Times are changing’. “Because times change”, says Swijnenberg. “And even if you didn’t choose it yourself, it can still be good”:
