Cody Bellinger knows he has work to do to get back into shape

In 2019, Cody Bellinger was the MVP of the National. A .305 batting average, 170 hits, 115 RBIs and 47 home runs earned him the title.

But he’s had tougher seasons since, hitting a low in 2021 with a .165 batting average, 52 hits and 10 home runs in 95 games. The 2021 season came after shoulder surgery in November 2020. Despite everything, Bellinger was aware before the start of the season that he absolutely had to recover in 2022.

In 77 games in 2022, he hit 59 hits and 11 home runs, driving in 31 runs and amassing a .208 batting average. Despite a season below expectations, Bellinger believes that his efforts should bring him back to the same level as in 2019.

This year he feels more confident than last year. He is aware that it is a long-term job, but he feels very good at the moment, and he likes to play again, which is in contrast to last year. In an interview with Tom Ruminski, Bellinger mentions that “if I keep focusing on the right things, I’m going to get back to my 2019 form”.

Despite its more difficult seasons, the Dodgers still managed to win the World Series in 2020. This year, the Dodgers are currently in first place in the National West Division, with a record of 54 wins and 29 losses, their thus giving a record of .651, the third best in the league (after the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros).

Let’s hope Bellinger gets back to his 2019 performances soon.
