Two staff members from Sledgehammer Games (SHG), which is responsible for the latest installment of the CoD series, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Ⅲ (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3/MWⅢ)”, made a special appearance on streamer Repullze’s broadcast.

Through Q&A with players, we were able to hear various interesting stories, such as what SHG is planning or not planning for multiplayer in “CoD: MW3.”

“CoD:MW3” future update plan

SHG staff answers questions from players

Click here for the Repullze delivery log (Twitch). This time, SHG’s senior development director Adam Iscove and multiplayer creative director Greg Reisdorf appeared and answered various questions about multiplayer in “CoD:MW3.”

“Stamina gauge” will be added

The image is an image. It’s probably something like this

At some point in the future, SHG willA gauge that allows you to check your staminarevealed that they plan to add it to the HUD. This was the most interesting new information in this Q&A session.

The speed of character controls has been improved in “CoD: MW3,” but discussions surrounding sliding, dashing, and tactical dashing have been heated even before release. Tactical Dash has a set duration that can be continued, and this is set with a refresh timer.

In the beta version, stamina was immediately refreshed when sliding. In the release version, this is no longer the case, and the patch notes dated November 18 explain that there was a delay in refreshing after sliding. Now, the refresh delay has been reduced by 75%, making it easier to repeat dashes and slides.

However, even when these delicate mechanisms are explained in text, it is difficult for players to understand. If a stamina gauge is added, you will be able to intuitively know how long you can currently perform a tactical dash, which should be useful.

Reisdorf assured us, “We are actually adding it, and it will be coming soon.”

Is bunny hop (something like) back?

For better or worse, the possibility of bringing back the “bunny hop”, which symbolizes the character contact of “Call of Duty” in “MW3” in “some form”, is being explored.

Currently, even if you try to aim while repeatedly sliding or jumping, there is a delay as mentioned above, so each movement does not connect smoothly. Reisdorf doesn’t seem to have a clear reason why he can’t bunny hop.

“It would be nice if there was a good reason why we can’t do it (bunny hop). So we’ll try to bring it back in some form.”

There are many voices in the chat section who want Baniho to be revived. Since it is necessary to test each mode and map, it seems that it is not possible to “return it tomorrow”, but it seems to be promising in the long term.

Prestige system will remain as it is

The format of “CoD:MWll” continues

“Season 1” starts in early December, and various content will be released, including three new maps for 6v6 (detailed article).

Along with the new content, you will also be able to level up “Prestige”, which is one of the elements to play. Following on from 2022’s “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare LL (Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2/MWll)”, this is a system that does not reset every season.

We have received requests from players to “return to a system where prestige is reset every season,” and SHG has also considered making a change. However, at least the first year of “CoD: MW3” will be played in a format that does not reset.

Also, at the development stage, we are considering reviving “Weapon Prestige”. However, this too was never implemented.

MW3 crash rate is at historic lows

A sad figure of a player who repeatedly respawns and dies.

(Although it happens every year) When “CoD: MW3” was released,A bug that repeatedly respawns and automatically dies.Various problems such asReddit). Even now, problems such as “the game crashing” and “not receiving rewards even after fulfilling the conditions” continue to be reported.

However, according to Adam, the crash rate in Call of Duty: MW3 is “historically low.”

Of course, SHG will continue to work on issues related to servers and packet bursts, as well as optimize the game for various play environments, in order to further improve player satisfaction.

Where’s the quick fix?

quick fix. It has not been adopted as a perk in “MW3” so far.

Quick Fix is a perk that restores health when you kill a player. In “CoD: MW3,” the PERK system was expressed as munitions such as vests and gloves, but nothing with an effect equivalent to a “quick fix” was implemented.

According to Greg, the reason there are no quick fixes is not because they see it as a problem. I have talked with the balance team, and the current lineup has the balance they are aiming for.

However, we are still accepting feedback from players. In terms of balance, he added, “There is no reason not to implement it unless it creates severe negative points.”

Among the perks, gear and boots will be adjusted and added in future seasons.

Weapon balance adjustment

Warzone, CoD:MWll, and CoD:MW3. Greg admits it’s “very difficult” to balance three titles. In fact, the original Warzone created three years worth of titles, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (CoD:MW), Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare), Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War When Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Vanguard shared weapons, they underwent intense balance changes every season.

However, it must be adjusted to fit the game’s needs as much as possible. When it comes to weapon balance in “MWll,” it goes beyond simply changing damage, and will work on various aspects such as recoil strength and bullet speed.

Aim assist is no problem

There was also a question about a possible aim assist nerf. SHG says that MW3’s aim assist is currently in “good condition” and it doesn’t seem like it will be adjusted for a while.

However, data collection is continuing. In the future, if the controller produces a significantly higher kill rate than the keyboard and mouse, a change will be considered.

On the other hand, we plan to remove some of the aim assist options. We will continue to search for the optimal solution for cross-play on each platform.

Developer Q&A is being held on Reddit

Only in English, but accepting questions on Reddit

SHG staff are currentlyMW3 Sable on RedditA question and answer event (AMA) regarding multiplayer is currently being held. We will begin answering questions from 5 a.m. on November 21st Japan time.

There are already many questions and requests regarding Skill Match (SBMM) in the comments section. It wasn’t mentioned in the Repullze distribution, but I’m curious to see if the multi-development team will respond. There are pros and cons to skill matches, both now and in the past, but I would like to take a look at SHG’s intentions as we prepare for the start of Season 1.
