The KNMI has issued code yellow for Sunday throughout the country. The weather institute warns of thunderstorms that can be accompanied by hail and strong gusts of wind. The showers are expected to cross the German border in the course of the afternoon.
The weather radar shows that the thunderstorms enter our country via the coastal provinces. Such a thunderstorm can be accompanied by hail and wind gusts with speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour.
The KNMI warns that traffic, outdoor activities and activities on the water may be affected. Today, among other things, the GP of the Netherlands is on the program.

In all likelihood, the participants and visitors will not be bothered by it: the showers will pass over Zandvoort in the morning hours. The race itself doesn’t start until 3pm.
The showers will slowly move eastward during the day, reaching the center and east in the afternoon. From about 3 p.m. the thunderstorm will disappear in the west, elsewhere this will happen at the end of the afternoon.
This means code yellow
The KNMI issues four different weather codes: green, yellow, orange and red. The weather institute describes code yellow as follows: “There is a possible chance of dangerous weather. These are weather situations that often occur in the Netherlands where it is advisable to pay attention, especially when on the road. Code yellow can be issued 48 hours before the weather phenomenon occurs. The certainty is at least 60 percent.”
