Code Yellow Warning: Dangerous Weather Expected in West of the Country

There is a chance of dangerous weather in the west of the country on Sunday afternoon. The KNMI has therefore issued code yellow for the provinces of North and South Holland. Heavy gusts of wind, especially along the coast, can lead to dangerous situations.

Storm Ciarán has disappeared, but now a new depression is bringing strong and stormy autumn weather. The KNMI calls on people to be alert.

The warning applies to North Holland from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. In South Holland, code yellow comes into effect an hour earlier and is expected to be lifted an hour earlier.

Heavy wind gusts of around 80 kilometers per hour are expected in the western coastal area on Sunday afternoon. At the seaside, wind gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour can occur, especially at the end of the afternoon, the weather institute warns. “The gusts of wind mainly occur during showers and come from a westerly direction.”

Traffic and outdoor activities may be disrupted. In the evening the wind gusts decrease in strength.

Weerplaza notes that a new major depression is moving to the Netherlands via Great Britain. That depression determines the weather pattern after the weekend. Next week we are expected to experience a lot of rain, strong winds and bleak autumn weather.
