The strong gusts of wind can damage buildings and trees and hinder traffic, especially in coastal areas. The KNMI has announced code yellow for the entire country for today.
In the west and north there is a chance of heavy gusts of wind, with peaks of 100 to 110 kilometers per hour. At the moment there is already stormy wind forces in Belgium, and it is expected that these will also appear in our home.
‘Unruly day’
“The peak will be around noon”, says Marc de Jong, meteorologist at Buienradar. “The wind will blow hard, especially in the northwest. It will really bother the traffic, for example if you go on the road with a trailer you will notice those gusts. What is not too bad is that the trees are not yet in the leaves,” so they will not blow over as quickly. But there will be some dead wood coming down. ”
It is not until later in the afternoon that the wind decreases, and mainly showers come in its place. Thunderstorms and hail are expected. De Jong: “It will be a turbulent day.” The temperature will not exceed 11 or 12 degrees.
