In all Dutch provinces except Zeeland, code yellow applies until 10 a.m. on Saturday morning for slipperiness. The KNMI issues the warning due to snow residues, snowfall and freezing of wet road sections since midnight.
According to the KNMI, traffic and outdoor activities may be affected by the smoothness. It will disappear in most places during the morning.
Last night snowfall led to a busier than usual rush hour. The flakes also remained, especially in the north and center of the country. A few inches of snow remained here and there.
Around 5.30 pm there was more than 450 kilometers of traffic jams. The number of accidents was not too bad because motorists took the weather conditions into account.
