cockroaches in the hotel refrigerator; 11 hotels closed in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: After the incident in which a nurse died of food poisoning from a hotel in Kottayam, the food safety department conducted a statewide inspection. 11 hotels have been closed in Thiruvananthapuram district. Hotels, including the Buhari Hotel in Attakulangara, have been closed. 46 hotels were inspected. The capital also has the largest number of vetted hotels in the state.

Officials said Buhari was locked up because cockroaches were found in the food. After receiving the complaint, when officials went to inspect, they found cockroaches in the old refrigerator in the kitchen. Instead of a wardrobe, a useless refrigerator was used. Officials also instructed to change the wet bags scattered around the kitchen. Officials ordered Buhari’s owners to open the hotel with company approval after obtaining a pesticide control certificate.

However, the hotel owner and staff protested the alleged sabotage during the inspection. They said officials could not seize stale food from the hotel and called for nearby hotels to be checked. Officials accused staff and owners of trying to detain those who came to inspect the Buhari Hotel.

However, the owners claimed that the hotel had been closed on purpose. He also said officials kept the cockroach in the plastic cover in the refrigerator that was not used in the hotel and then took the photo. You said the food safety department checks here once every two weeks. The carabinieri of the Fort arrived on the scene after learning of the incident. Officials have ordered police to ensure the hotel is open in accordance with regulations.
