“Cockroach Steals Show at Met Gala, but Meets Tragic End”

A moment of glory, and an end of life rich in twists and turns. This Monday, May 1, on the carpet of the Met Gala, orchestrated by the unbeatable Anna Wintour, a surprise guest stole the show from the stars who came to salute the career of Karl Lagerfeld. A cockroach broke in between two passages of celebritiestaking the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Met), as do the prestigious guests of the annual gala.

Spotted by the public, the insect headed straight for the entrance, crossing paths with Getty Images photographer Kevin Mazur. At the request of the spectators, the latter shot the little intruder, immortalizing his visit in this event of all possibilities. Determined to climb the last steps that separated him from the gala hall, the cockroach was not discouraged in the least by the photographer’s attempts to scare him.

Unfortunately, our colleagues from The Hollywood Reporter specify that his journey was
ended abruptly : the cockroach was crushed before reaching the door. A tragic fate, which will have had the merit of marking this edition of the Met Gala.
