The beverage giant had already announced that it would discontinue brands such as Tab, Zico and Odwalla, but now the manufacturer has announced that it will get rid of a large number of brands.

Reducing the product portfolio will allow Coca-Cola to focus on the most profitable brands, the manufacturer explains. These include Coca-Cola’s core products, such as Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, as well as brands that fall into new, modern categories, such as Topo Chico and AHA.

Coca-Cola CEO James Quinsey said the manufacturer had decided which brands would remain in its portfolio. Sales of water and sports drinks fell sharply in the third quarter, so the planned changes will largely affect this category.

According to the manager, many of the brands that will be closed are sold only in certain markets. There is a big difference between Coca-Cola’s successful brands and those that “pull life”, Quinsey said in the summer.

The pandemic has “painfully stung” the company “Coca-Cola” due to the closure of restaurants and their downsizing.
