PAOK was better at Leoforo, beating Panathinaikos 3-2 in the second matchday of the playoffs and keeping their title hopes alive. On the other hand, the greens lost several chances, paying for the mistakes made by their coach F. Terim.
The Northern Bighead opened the scoring with a goal from the locker room. In the 2nd minute, Brandon Thomas from the right passed three players, entered the area, the ball went to Rafa Soares, he made the cross at the height of the penalty and Despodov beat Dragovski with a shot (0-1).
In the 7th minute, Kotsiras fed Sporar, who shot from the area, but missed.
In the 17th minute, PAOK “touched” the 0-2. Despontov crossed to Brandon Thomas who was alone at the front post, the Spaniard shot powerfully but Dragovski cleared for a corner. The corner was taken by Despodov, Keziora headed in with Dragovski again impressively clearing the danger.
The derby had a frenetic pace and both teams were looking for the goal for different reasons. In the 21st minute, Kotsiras crossed, Ioannidis took the header without finding the target.
The greens equalized in the 29th minute. Kotsiras made the cross, Kenziora cleared the ball, which reached Bernard who beat Kotarski with a shot and equalized at 1-1.
The match was… a rodeo and the visitors took the lead again in the 37th minute. PAOK went on the counterattack, Meite made a vertical pass on the back of Vaiannidis to Murg. He made the parallel ball to Brandon Thomas who sent the ball into the net for 1-2.
The hosts were not good in the first half and F. Terim made three changes at the start of the second 45 minutes.
In the 50th minute, Despodov’s cross, Thomas’ shot, Dragovski scored his goal. In the 52nd minute of Juancar’s cross, Ioannidis found the ball, found Palasios, hit the post and went wide.
In the 57th minute, Bakasetas committed a foul, with Kotarski clearing the ball.
In the 68th minute, Panathinaikos came close to equalizing. Huancar’s cross, Jedvai’s header saved by Kotarski and then a saving tackle by Koulierakis before the Croatian footballer made the trefoil.

In 83′, Kotarski saved Bakaseta’s shot, while in 88′, Dikefalos won a penalty. Dragovski saved Samata’s shot, who collected the rebound and shot into an empty net with Palacios clearing the ball with his hand. The Argentinian striker was sent off with a red card and Schwab made it 1-3 in the 89th minute.
In the 91st minute, Tyson missed a unique chance to make it 1-4, while in the 93rd minute, Bernard made the final 2-3.
The Danish referee M. Render showed a yellow card to Kotsira, Despontov, Keziora, Kotarski, Samata, Koulierakis, Tyson.
