After a day of rest from the rain and clear skies, another round of bad weather is expected in our tri-state area.
This is because a coastal low will bring moderate to heavy rain, gusty winds, minor coastal flooding and beach erosion to the region from Thursday night into Saturday morning.
As high pressure to our north weakens, a coastal low will make its way into our region bringing heavy rain early Friday morning through Friday night, ending Saturday morning.
A total of 2 to 3 inches of rain is expected, much of which will fall Friday morning into Friday night. Locally, 3 to 5 inches of rain is possible, but confidence in its occurrence and location is low at this time.
With possible rainfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour, we could have some isolated or scattered flash flooding, especially along the New Jersey coast which will remain under a coastal flood warning through Saturday along with other coastal areas in New Jersey. York and Connecticut with a persistent flow of easterly winds.
The full moon will not help with tide levels, leading to chances of minor coastal flooding. The strong waves will also ensure additional beach erosion.
Once the rain ends on Saturday afternoon, the sun will return and temperatures will begin to rise. Sunny skies are expected Sunday along with temperatures in the 70s.
