Coalition takes stock after 100 days of Green-Black – Baden-Württemberg

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – Almost 100 days after the coalition agreement was signed, the green-black coalition looks back and takes stock. Just as traditionally as the opposition always uses the occasion to formulate its criticism of the government in a sharp-tongued manner, the alliance will use this Tuesday (10 a.m.) to highlight the joint successes of the first three months.

In addition to the fight against the corona virus, green-black should above all name the resolutions and projects for climate protection. With the Climate Protection Act as the first major project of the state government in the new electoral period, the coalition is taking up the solar system requirement for new buildings and plans to expand wind power. According to the green and black ideas, the country should become climate neutral by 2040. So far, the target has been 90 percent by 2050.

While the Climate Protection Act has already been passed, the struggle for a new state election law is still in full swing: the Greens and CDU want to change the electoral law and thus make the state parliament more attractive for women and younger voters. In the state, there should be a two-vote right to vote, similar to the federal government. In addition, as in local elections, younger people should be allowed to vote from the age of 16. Since the reform requires an amendment to the state constitution, the coalition needs a two-thirds majority in the state parliament. On October 20, the coalition could envision adoption in the state parliament.

In contrast, the opposition’s interim results are sobering. The SPD and FDP speak of a false start, and there is no sign of any new impetus. Nothing can be seen of “grandchildren-fair finances,” as Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) had promised. The government had decided on a supplementary budget. It can thus use the exception clause of the debt brake and take out new loans amounting to 1.2 billion euros. In the opinion of the SPD, FDP and AfD, however, it takes on new debts for no reason. You have enough reserves.

The increase in jobs in the ministries is also a thorn in the side of the opposition. A new ministry (regional development, housing) and four additional posts for state secretaries were created. The opposition accuses Green-Black of inflating the government apparatus. In addition, the situation in schools is not only problematic with a view to the pandemic and poor preparation.

After the state elections, Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) decided against experiments and for a new edition with the CDU, which now wants to be much greener than before. On May 12, the state parliament elected the 73-year-old Prime Minister for the third time. Traditionally, an initial assessment is made after 100 days.
