The ChristenUnie has major objections in principle to the government’s proposal for a 2G access pass, whereby unvaccinated people can no longer receive a QR code. Instead, the party wants everyone, including those who have been vaccinated, to be tested to receive a QR code.
Without the support of the coalition party, it is very doubtful whether there will be a majority for the 2G proposal. Including CDA, GroenLinks and the PvdA still doubting about the measure.
‘Prevent further polarization’
The cabinet said on Friday that it is working on a law to ban unvaccinated people from locations where the risk of infection is greatest, such as full bars, festivals and events. According to ChristenUnie MP Mirjam Bikker, this measure leads to too great a dichotomy in society between vaccinated and unvaccinated.
The proposed corona measures are going “towards coercion”, she tells news hour. “Let’s prevent further polarization.” She also thinks that the 2G policy will not increase the willingness to vaccinate.
1G
The party comes up with an alternative: a 1G policy. For places “where the risks are high” and larger events, such as a football match, everyone must take a PCR test, including people who have been vaccinated or cured from corona. “You know very well when you are going to an event and then you can have yourself tested,” says Bikker. A quick test would suffice for a visit to a cafe or restaurant, for example.
Bikker: “I think it is important that we keep access for everyone, but above all also reduce the infections. And then it is very good to test everyone. This is a policy without gaps and we can protect each other even better with it. “

The ChristenUnie also has strong objections to a corona ticket at work. Bikker argues for a 1G policy for workplaces where keeping a distance is difficult. “You can set up a rapid test street at such a location.”
The party, which is now negotiating a cabinet Rutte IV in its formation with VVD and D66, was also the only coalition partner to vote against the introduction of the corona pass.
Cabinet leaves choice to entrepreneurs
Incidentally, entrepreneurs can choose within the 2G plan of the cabinet whether they want to introduce the measure in their business or whether they also find a negative test enough. With 3G, everyone has to sit in a fixed place and people are not allowed to dance or stand at the bar.
Outgoing minister Hugo de Jonge (Public Health) understands the dilemma of choosing between 2G or 3G. “But if we can keep a café open longer or allow a festival to continue with 2G, then it is our job to make that choice,” De Jonge said earlier. Critics believe that you cannot leave that choice to the entrepreneurs, but that politicians should make a decision about it.
Tomorrow the House will debate the new corona measures.
