Party Gerindra and the Democrats had a meeting two days ago. Head of the Party Democrats Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (ME) said that he had reported the results of the meeting to Anies Baswedan’s Coalition for Change for Unity (KPP) vice president.
“Oh yes, of course (reported). Every meeting, we have an ethic that is carried out, namely that we inform later that there will be a meeting with a certain party, before or after,” AHY told reporters after the Indonesia vs Vietnam volleyball match with Anies at the Volleyball Padepokan General Police Kunarto, Bogor, West Java, Saturday (22/7/2023).
AHY said he also told Anies this this afternoon. AHY said Anies welcomed the story of the meeting.
“Earlier I met him while having coffee earlier. I also told him about the meeting that took place at the Democratic Party DPP two days ago and he also welcomed it,” he said.
AHY then talked about the importance of mutual trust when a coalition is built. According to AHY, he and Anies had built this trust long ago.
“So the point in building a coalition is that the most important thing for us is mutual trust. So mutual trust must be built, and this is not one or two days, not one or two events, and we have been building this for a long time. This is mutual openness, telling each other stories, we know there are ethics that are upheld, and the good intention is to keep this coalition building good and strong,” said AHY.
“If there are dynamics between political parties, that’s normal, that’s part of the democratic process in our country. I think the spirit is there and, God willing, we will still be serious about formulating a winning strategy going forward,” he continued.
