The governor of Coahuila, Miguel Ángel Riquelme Solís presented the Prize to the Magisterial Merit 2020 “Teacher of the Year” to the teacher from Monclovense Nancy Jazmín Flores Martínez, who in 2018 during the National Coexistence of Knowledge received the presidential recognition as the Best Teacher in the Country.
The state leader led the ceremony together with Mayor Manolo Jiménez Salinas; the Secretary of Education of the State, Higinio González Calderón; the representatives of Sections 5, 35 and 38 of the SNTE, Jorge Villarreal Cantú, Fernando Mora Garza and Xicoténcatl de la Cruz García, respectively.
He also gave awards to the professors Zahila Nefthaly Gaytán Campos, from the North Region, in Acuña; Alfonso Rodríguez Guzmán, from La Carbonífera, Sabinas; and Virginia Jaqueline Loyola Yáñez, from the Centro, in Monclova.
Likewise, to teachers Ana Luisa González Mejía, and Mayra Aydé de la Rosa Montemayor, from the Southeast and Laguna, Saltillo and Torreón regions, respectively, who won the nomination of Best Teachers by Region.
In his speech, Governor Miguel Riquelme established that the work of the teachers of Coahuila was fundamental for the continuation of the teaching of education among children and youth of the State, for which he reiterated his appreciation and gratitude.
He highlighted his high commitment, remarkable performance and total dedication to the training of the new generations, by expressing that they are an example of the high level of professional development that distinguishes Coahuila teachers.
In parallel, praised the strength and integrity of the State Educational System, in facing what he called “the greatest challenge in the history of education”.
“The pandemic has left many negative balances; However, the teachers from Coahuila have proven to be up to this historical challenge. For the teachers of Coahuila, the difficulties of the contingency have been the opportunity to expand the concept of teaching, “he added.
He recalled that they continued their work despite the health contingency, and made technological tools and digital platforms their own, advancing the educational process at all levels.
Then, The Governor of the State expressed his recognition to the winners of the Prize for Magisterial Merit 2020 “Teacher of the Year”, who, he said, demonstrated that they more than honored his vocation.
“His achievements are the fruit of a life dedicated to teaching. They practice their profession with passion, enthusiasm and closeness to students and families. They give their greatest efforts to educational work ”, he emphasized.
His daily work, he said, is appreciated by the State Government and the school community; its achievements are an example for the teaching staff and generate greater efforts in favor of the schools to which it belongs.
Subsequently, he reiterated the claim of the Federalist Alliance, of which he is a part, so that Education workers are considered within the first line to be favored with the covid-19 vaccination, and expressed the full support of its Administration to continue strengthening the teaching sector throughout the State.
Subsequently, he praised the performance of teacher Nancy Jazmín Flores Martínez, winner of the Presa for Best Teacher of the Year.
“You have promoted an educational model that promotes the entrepreneurial spirit from elementary school. Thanks to their work, our students have been in the front line of competition in the Knowledge Olympiad ”, he stressed.
The teachers of Coahuila, he quoted, know that the key to success is teamwork: “And in the same way in consensus and in alliances, in the Government we have faced the pandemic.
“At no time have we stopped the institutional work. On the contrary, we maintain permanent coordination with the 38 municipalities, with businessmen and civil organizations to advance in the central issues of our society. “
He also affirmed that the social, urban and educational infrastructure projects are being maintained, while maintaining that his Administration makes difficult decisions: “but they put the health of all and all first. We cancel the face-to-face classes, but we never interrupt the teaching and learning of educational plans ”.
With everyone’s participation, he added, the projects aimed at achieving an equitable and higher quality education continued; He recognized all those involved in the implementation of online and distance education, recovering the fundamental role that the family has in the training of students.
Riquelme Solís argued that in a year of challenges, the State remained the leader in attracting national and foreign investment, as a result of its competitive advantages, as well as due to the security, labor and teaching environment, but above all due to the level of schooling of its workers.
He reiterated the willingness of his Government to maintain investments in education, due to the great relevance they have for the entity.
“In the three years of our Administration we have already invested 1,590.7 million pesos in equipment, remodeling, construction and improvement of educational spaces”, while highlighting the achievements of Coahuila in Education:
“Thanks to the work of our Educational System, and despite adversity, Coahuila today has the first place in the country with the lowest percentage of population without completed primary school; the third place with the least educational lag, and the fifth with the lowest percentage of illiteracy ”, he mentioned.
He pointed out that these results drive the entity to seek better achievements in the rest of its management, adding that “halfway through, we still have to face many challenges together”; and there will be the support of the Education workers.
“In the next few years, we will continue with our strategic projects. Our priorities are health, public safety, economic recovery and, of course, education.
“Neither the pandemic nor the budget cuts will stop the investment program in educational infrastructure and in the management to have better schools, more equipped and with first-class spaces,” he concluded.
Previously, the Secretary of Education, Higinio González Calderón, detailed the selection process that the qualifying jury reviewed and the richness of the proposals presented by parents, teachers, students and union authorities to select the best teachers in Coahuila of the present year.
He reiterated that the teachers will always have the support of the Miguel Riquelme government, and on behalf of the winners, the teacher Nancy Jazmín Flores Martínez, with 16 years of teaching service and who is currently a group teacher at the “Benito Juárez ”, from Monclova, thanked the Government of Coahuila for the distinctions.
For its part, the Mayor of Saltillo, Manolo Jiménez Salinas, said that Coahuila and the State Capital have high quality teachers that contribute to the better academic performance of their students.
The Presea al Mérito Magisterial includes a plaque of recognition and economic stimulus for each of the winners.
