OVIEDO, 8 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The agricultural union COAG-Asturias has assured this Thursday that Asturian farmers “do not give credit to the words of the minister of consumption” whom they accuse of wanting to “give the last straw by recommending eating less meat and accusing livestock of environmental damage that they have already been widely contested by the scientific community. “
“We farmers bear ridiculous prices for our products, we bear the damage of wolves and wild boars, we bear the lack of aid, we endure day after day that rural areas are second-rate and we are not entitled to the same services as cities. Little by little They are ending our sector and, now, Mr. Garzón wants to give us the last straw “, they assure from the organization.
The union adds that they would like the minister to be more concerned with issues such as the consumption of sugary drinks, ultra-processed foods and the consumption of industrial pastries, for example, which are causing so much damage to the population, especially children.
“We want to remind the Minister that the livestock sector is not to blame for the lack of water in the world or that our planet is increasingly polluted. The livestock sector is dedicated solely to raising animals to supply the population of a food as basic as meat, an essential and worthy activity that the Ministry of Consumption should defend, at least with the same impetus that, apparently, the rights of wild fauna are defended, “they conclude.
