Coach’s Language: Explaining the Meanings of Tite’s Expressions in Football

O UOL brought together some elements of the coach’s language to explain what they mean.

Unbalancing externals. Tite uses the expression to refer to players who act in attack, such as wingers, and are dribblers, who can make individual plays, which unbalance the opponent’s marking, creating scoring chances.

Trainability. According to the coach, “trainability” is the ability of players to evolve during activities. Training progresses in terms of positioning and finishing, for example.

Terminal player. It is used when Tite refers to the center forward, that is, a more finishing player, where the plays end. During his selection days, he used it when talking about Pedro, who will be led by him at Fla.

Supported game. It is the implementation of concepts such as possession of the ball, bringing players together and exchanging passes to advance the attack, with the player who has the ball having options to activate teammates.

Last third. This expression is already more widespread in football circles. For many coaches, the field is divided into three parts, with the “last third” being the one that corresponds to the attack, after passing through the defense and midfield.
