Antonio Conte mention train Tottenham Hotspur so the toughest challenge of his career so far. Conte considers Tottenham to have decreased compared to a few years ago.
Conte was appointed Tottenham manager in early November. The former Inter Milan coach was appointed to replace the sacked Nuno Espirito Santo.
With Conte so far, Tottenham have recorded two wins in four matches in all competitions. However, in the last match against Mura in the Conference League, The Lilywhites lost by a score of 1-2.
In the Premier League, Tottenham are still struggling in the middle board. Harry Kane et al are in ninth place in the Premier League standings with 19 points from 12 matches.
“This is my biggest challenge, yes. I have great enthusiasm… Now the most important thing is to create a good foundation and then build something important,” Conte said as reported ESPN.
Antonio Conte thinks Tottenham are not as strong as they were a few years ago. The Italian coach assesses that Tottenham are suffering the consequences of not overhauling the squad early.
“The club, in recent years, has slipped. If I compare Tottenham to when I was at Chelsea, Tottenham at that time was very, very competitive, a very strong team,” Conte said.
“And I think losing an important player or someone due to aging and a change of generations, I think Tottenham now have to pay the price. Now we have to create, start again. We need a little time but I believe we can improve,” Conte added.
