Xavi Hernandez did not want to cover his desire to train Barcelona. The former Spanish midfielder called coaching his former club his dream.
Xavi has been on the Barcelona coach market since the beginning of the year. His name was sticking out to replace Ernesto Valverde, who was fired by management.
However, Barcelona finally pointed Quique Setien. Xavi is now still continuing to train Al Sadd, which he handled since last year.
Barcelona itself has now failed to win the Spanish League, unable to compete with Real Madrid. Xavi’s name re-emerged to be able to return to Camp Nou as a coach.
Xavi said he would respect his contract at Al Sadd. However, he admitted that training Barcelona, which incidentally his former club, was his dream.
“I cannot cover my desire to coach Barcelona. I always say that my goal is to coach Barcelona. That is my home and my dream too,” Xavi told Marca.
“But, right now I’m focused with Al Sadd. I’m ready to welcome the new season next,” he explained.
Regarding Setien, Xavi also asked everyone to respect him. It evaluates, appropriately when there are trainees who have difficulty training Lionel Messi et al.
“First, Setien must be respected. I hope the best for the club,” continued Xavi.
“Sometimes clubs play well, sometimes they don’t. But I like Setien’s plan, which emphasizes ball control and playing. Sometimes it doesn’t work because of opponents, but we’ve seen some good games under Setien’s coaching,” he explained.
