Runner, 54, had submitted his resignation from coaching the Saudi national team the day before yesterday.
Renard took over the leadership of βAl-Akhdarβ in the year 2019 and led it to the 2022 World Cup after leading its Asian group. He also achieved a historic victory over Argentina in the group stage of the Qatar World Cup.
The appointment of Renard, winner of the African Cup of Nations twice with Zambia and Cote d’Ivoire, comes less than four months before the start of the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, which France’s women will compete in between July and August next.
