Hamburg – In the 3rd league of the North-East season, SG Hamburg-Nord had completed 23 of the 30 match days by the Easter break. With 13:33 points and 604:684 goals, coach Matthias Steinkamp’s team is in 14th place, the first relegation spot.
“We are not happy with the situation in the table at the moment. Our goal for the season was and is to stay in the league, which cannot be achieved at the moment,” says supervisor Sören Priebs, who is not very pleased with what has been achieved. “However, we are still optimistic and motivated, even though the rest of the program is anything but easy.”
There are only four points to reach the rescue bank, where HC Burgenland (17:29) is currently ranked. If there were a tie on points with the HC at the end of the season, Hamburg would be ahead, as the direct comparison with two wins for Hamburg would have a positive impact. Now, from April 7th, when the final spurt of the season begins with the away game against second-placed HC Empor Rostock, it means getting the necessary points to stay in the league in the remaining seven games.

New blood is continually being incorporated

After the end of the A-youth season, SG Hamburg-Nord integrated young talents with Peer Reyelt, Nico Sandtmann, Yannick Laudenbach, Bruno Carolus and Konrad Hohmann in order to get further options for the squad. “We are very happy that the boys are giving us freshness on the one hand and are actively increasing the competition for squad positions on the other. Furthermore, we are taking the path that we as SG Hamburg-Nord have set as our goal: to provide permeability right up to the top for young talents who are willing to work hard,” said Priebs, pleased about this opportunity.

The remaining program becomes a challenge

After a good start to the season with two wins, one draw and the opening defeat, the score was 5:3. There was then a long dry spell with 1:15 points before the victory over HSG Ostsee Neustadt/Grömitz at home followed. At the turn of the year there was another defeat, with 8:20 points being the entire result of the first series. The start of the second half of the season with 4:6 points was followed by another 1:7 points, including the double-counting home defeat against fellow rivals for relegation HC Burgenland.
The next two games are all tough, with Hamburg against the top two in the league and all away. This means that a maximum of bonus points can come from these games. “However, we showed last Saturday that we as a collective can keep up with the big players and will therefore by no means give ourselves up without a chance,” said supervisor Priebs optimistically. “The games in Altenholz and Magdeburg will also be very tough tasks. However, both have weakened in a few cases this season, so maybe we’ll catch a good moment here.” The SG also has this direct group chasing the top duo in the program for the remaining seven matches, where the necessary points have to be scored. A mammoth task awaits SG Hamburg-Nord in the final sprint to stay in the league.
SG Hamburg Nord (13:33), TSV Burgdorf II (12:34) and HSV Insel Usedom (8:38) are currently in the relegation places.

In the final spurt of the season, only full throttle is needed to stay in the league

In the remaining seven third division games, every point counts towards staying in the league. Currently four points behind the saving bank, the team of coach Steinkamp, who is leaving at the end of the season, still has an extremely difficult remaining program to complete. Immediately after the Easter break we go away to the top three (HC Empor Rostock (2nd), MTV Braunschweig (1st) and TSV Altenholz (3rd) in the league, before two teams from the midfield (TSV Anderten and SC Magdeburg II). be cloths.
